What’s Your Why? Turning Your Dreams into Passion
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna’s (Mapúa MCL) Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC) took the lead in organizing a specialized Career Program for Senior High School (SHS) learners. This initiative is dedicated to helping students develop the clarity and expertise needed to choose enduring professional paths.
For the school year 2025-2026, the CGC teamed up with the Mapúa MCL Senior High School Department and SPARK (Supporting Peers Advocating for Resilience and Kindness) to host a week-long series of events under the theme: “What’s Your Why? Turning Your Dreams into Passion.” This program serves as a vital resource for students during their formative years, offering a roadmap for future decision-making while supporting the goals of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
The Career Dress-up Show
The festivities launched on February 24, 2026, with the high-energy Career Path and Passion: Career Dress-up Show Competition. This event allowed students to showcase their professional aspirations through creative, sustainable attire. To help participants shine, The Haus provided coaching in runway techniques, ensuring every student could have the catwalk with poise.
The competition saw impressive displays of talent across both levels:
- Grade 11 Winners: S1113 took the top spot, followed by S1110 and S1105.
- Grade 12 Winners: S1201 secured first place, with S1211 and S1213 rounding out the top three.
Creative Fun Shot Contest
Alongside the Career Dress Up on February 24, 2026, was the Career Creative Fun Shot Contest. This contest encouraged students to use their artistic eyes to document sustainable career concepts. Following a thorough review by our panel of judges, the following sections were declared winners:
Grade 11 Winner: S1108
Grade 12 Winner: S1203
Career Tours
On February 26, 2026, the program transitioned to the Career Tours: Pathways in Shaping the Future. This interactive exhibit transformed the campus into a discovery hub where various college organizations presented their programs. Through beautifully crafted booths and live demonstrations, SHS students gained a firsthand look at the academic and extracurricular life awaiting them at Mapúa MCL, helping them align their current interests with future collegiate opportunities.
BBL Ultra Module
To provide lasting support beyond the week’s physical events, the CGC launched the BBL Ultra Module (MHPSS) on February 27, 2026. Titled “Shaping a Sustainable Tomorrow: A Mental Health and Psychosocial Support,” this digital resource is accessible to all SHS students. It focuses on the intersection of career mapping and emotional well-being, teaching students how to make informed choices while maintaining a healthy, balanced perspective on their professional journeys.
Through these diverse activities, the 2026 SHS Career Week successfully provided a holistic platform for students to envision their professional futures with confidence and purpose. By bridging creative expression with practical guidance and mental health support, the program ensured that every participant is better equipped to navigate their own unique path toward sustainable success.
