Mapúa MCL’s Mapúa Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) kicks off Immersion Program in collaboration with Concepcion Durables Incorporated (CDI)
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL), through the Mapúa Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL), its College of Engineering and Architecture, formally launched its Immersion Program in partnership with Concepcion Durables Incorporated (CDI) with a kick-off meeting held on August 6, 2025.
The meeting marked the official start of the collaboration between Mapúa MCL and CDI, with both parties aligning on key objectives and plans toward the successful implementation and completion of various identified industry projects. These initiatives are expected to enhance student immersion, faculty-industry engagement, and real-world application of engineering principles in sustainable industrial settings.
Present during the meeting were CDI officers led by the Head of the Plant, Engr. Rommel Carrera, and representatives from MITL, including program chairs and faculty members. The academic delegation was headed by the MITL Dean, Engr. Jesunino Aquino.
“This partnership is a strategic step forward in strengthening our industry-academe collaboration,” said Engr. Aquino. “It is aligned with our mission to provide meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that prepare our students for real-world challenges, while contributing to the development of sustainable solutions in partnership with forward-thinking organizations like CDI.”
The kick-off session involved discussions on the scope and timeline of projects, expected outputs, student roles during immersion, and mutual expectations from both CDI and Mapúa MCL. The program aims not only to expose students to actual industry practices but also to allow them to contribute to innovation, research, and problem-solving in collaboration with CDI professionals.
The Mapúa MCL-CDI Immersion Program is set to run throughout the academic year, with regular progress reviews and culminating outputs to be presented upon completion. This initiative reinforces Mapúa MCL’s commitment to outcome-based education and its advocacy for collaborative learning through strategic industry partnerships.
