Mapúa MCL Students Tackle Real-World Environmental Auditing
On March 23, 2026, students of C-OPM114 ETY262 (Environmental Management System) from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) E.T. Yuchengco College of Business (ETYCB), under the guidance of Professor Noel Eric B. Ang, successfully conducted a mock audit aligned with ISO 14001:2015 standards. This exercise served as a rigorous practical application for the students’ Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) deliverables.
The project challenged student cohorts to develop comprehensive Environmental Management Manuals for conceptual business models. Demonstrating a high level of technical detail and creativity, the groups designed frameworks for diverse enterprises, including a commercial egg-laying farm, a tuna canning facility, and a franchised takoyaki enterprise.
To provide industry-grade scrutiny, the class invited Engr. Noel Enriquez to serve as the guest auditor. In addition to evaluating the students’ work, Engr. Enriquez facilitated an insightful seminar titled, “Beyond Compliance: Why Environmental Management Systems Matter for Businesses of Every Size,” which highlighted the strategic importance of sustainability across various scales of operation.
The session concluded with the awarding of certificates of attendance, recognizing the students’ commitment to professional excellence and environmental stewardship.
This activity underscores the institution’s advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action.
