Mapúa MCL strengthens partnership with Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc

Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on August 15, 2025, with the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. at PTC Makati. This is to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions established in 2008 for the creation of the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (Mapúa PTC-CMET).    

The MOA signing was attended by Mapúa MCL officials Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and Chief Executive Officer; Engr. Anthony Hilmer S. Medrano, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Engr. Maribel G. Songsong, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. James Ronald O. Mesina, Vice President of the Office for External Relations; Capt. Armando Ternida, Dean of Mapúa-PTC CMET; and Ms. Pearl Stephanie DL. Ulep, Director for Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement.     

PTC was represented by Mr. Gerardo Borromeo, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Ms. Vivian C. Cristobal, Chief Operating Officer, Shipping Cluster; and Capt. Pol Winston C. Haboc, Vice President of PHILCAMSAT.    

The Mapúa-PTC CMET was established in 2008 to offer the B.S. Marine Engineering and B.S. Marine Transportation programs. The partnership aims to implement programs that will establish core competencies in seamanship, marine engineering, and maritime business, providing essential knowledge and practical skills rooted in the latest industry standards. With a focus on academic discipline and hands-on application, the College of Maritime Education and Training prepares students in Laguna for successful, immediate, and impactful contributions to the maritime sector.     

This collaborative partnership intends to support Mapúa MCL’s advocacy for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
