Mapúa MCL partners with Fair Training Center
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) and Fair Training Center (FTC) formalized their partnership through a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Beyond the Deck project, a soft skills development program designed to empower maritime students for life and work as migrant seafarers.
Representing Mapúa MCL were Engr. Anthony Hilmer S. Medrano, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Prof. James Ronald Mesina, Assistant Vice President for External Relations and Global Linkages; Ms. Pearl Stephanie Ulep, Director for Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement; and Capt. Armando Ternida, Dean of the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET). FTC, meanwhile, were represented by Ms. Maria Aurora Amanda Gloria, Executive Director, and Mr. Paul Andrew Ng, Project Manager.
Rooted in a shared commitment to capacity-building and sustainable employment, the Beyond the Deck initiative will integrate FTC’s research-backed training with Mapúa-PTC CMET’s expertise in seafaring education, equipping students with essential soft skills to thrive professionally and personally in their global careers.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, this collaboration marks the beginning of a promising partnership grounded in shared values and a forward-looking commitment to enriching maritime education and empowering future migrant seafarers to succeed in their personal and professional journeys.
