Mapúa MCL Participates in Universitas Esa Unggul’s Immersion Program 2023

In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, it is essential for students to broaden their horizons and gain a global perspective. Students from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna’s E.T Yuchengco College of Business (Mapúa MCL ETYCB) took a significant step towards achieving this goal by participating in Universitas Esa Unggul’s (UEU) Immersion Program 2023, held from July 22 to 30 in Jakarta, Indonesia. This remarkable international experience was made possible through the Cintana Alliance, reflecting Mapúa MCL’s commitment to enhancing its internationalization efforts.

Mapúa MCL was represented by a group of outstanding students namely, Mark Laurens Corales (3rd Year BS Business Administration Major in Marketing Management), Jerome Dalde (2nd Year BS Tourism Management), Khaira Marie Dulongbinti (2nd Year BS Accountancy), Irish Jose Estoesta (3rd Year BS Business Administration Major in Marketing Management), Mariel Tricia Gotiongco (4th Year BS Accounting Information System), Aira Mae Mendoza (3rd Year BS Accountancy), and Antoni Ville Ricafort (1st Year BS Business Administration).

The UEU Immersion Program offered a unique opportunity for students to gain cross-cultural competence, while also deepening their academic knowledge. It welcomed a diverse group of students from different parts of the world with various academic disciplines and backgrounds, each representing their own communities. This laid the foundation for an enriching exchange of ideas and experiences throughout the program.

One of the core objectives of the program was to provide the students with an authentic Indonesian cultural experience. With this, the participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of Indonesian culture. They learned the intricate art of Batik and learned pottery-making, allowing them to connect with the essence of Indonesia.

Apart from the cultural immersion, the program also placed a strong emphasis on academic excellence. Professors and experts from UEU conducted a series of lectures that covered Public Relations, Business Management, and Biotechnology. The students engaged in academic discussions, gaining valuable insights into their respective fields of study while broadening their intellectual horizons.

By stepping out of their comfort zones, these students gained confidence, adaptability, and a global perspective that will serve them well in their future endeavors. They left the program with a deeper sense of appreciation for diversity and a heightened awareness of the global interconnectedness.

With the success of this collaborative endeavor with UEU and other Cintana Alliance members as inspiration, Mapúa MCL looks forward to embarking its own immersion program in the near future, welcoming students from all over the world and introducing the Philippines to them.

Moreover, Mapúa MCL remains committed to finding and creating opportunities for its students through mobility programs. These initiatives will enable students to expand their academic pursuits and become responsible global citizens. The institution recognizes the importance of such programs in shaping well-rounded individuals who can make meaningful contributions to a rapidly evolving world. Through continued efforts and collaborations, Mapúa MCL aims to open doors to even more transformative experiences for its students.
