Mapúa MCL CGC celebrates Mental Health Month

Throughout the month of October 2023, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna’s Center for Guidance and Counselling (Mapúa MCL CGC) observed Mental Health Month with the theme “Look Around, Look Within: Strengthening My Protective Factors.”

The month-long event featured various activities aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support among the students. The month kicked off last October 2, 2023 with a Digital Launch, accompanied by the posting of Instagram Reels focusing on Mental Health Protective Factors in collaboration with Mapúa MCL’s Supreme Student Council.

On October 10, 2023, the second week of the Mental Health Month proceeded with “Oras ng Kumustahan – Kumusta ka na? Tara Usap Tayo!” event, marking its the first face-to-face edition of this gathering. Formerly known as ‘Online Kumustahan,’ this session provided a platform for open discussions and check-ins. From October 17 to 19, activities like the Mental Health On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest and a booth contest were held, engaging students in creative expressions related to mental health awareness.

The month-long celebration concluded last October 23 with a seminar titled “Educate, Empower, and Excel,” focusing on the 3E’s of Drug Prevention and Academic Stress Management. The seminar featured Prof. Francis Grace Duka-Pante, an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Education, and Mapúa MCL alumna Christelle Eve F. Taclas as the guest speakers.

Throughout these events, the Mapúa MCL CGC aimed to foster a supportive environment and encourage discussions around mental health. By offering diverse activities and insightful seminars, the institution took proactive steps in promoting mental well-being and equipping students with valuable tools for understanding and managing academic stress.
