In celebration of its 20th Founding Anniversary, alumni of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) gathered for a day of camaraderie and recreation during “Milestones in Motion, Continuing Legacy: Alumni Sportsfest,” held on January 24, 2026 at The Mills Country Club. The event was organized by the Alumni Center as part of the institution’s milestone celebration.

Designed as a fellowship gathering, the sportsfest brought together alumni from different batches who reconnected through friendly games and shared experiences. Rather than focusing on formal competition, the event emphasized community, wellness, and strengthening alumni relationships. The relaxed atmosphere allowed participants to enjoy recreational activities while rekindling friendships formed during their years at Mapúa MCL.

Throughout the day, alumni participated in a variety of sports and leisure activities, including badminton, billiards, bowling, darts, and pickleball. Each game provided an opportunity for them to interact, collaborate, and enjoy lighthearted moments together. Whether rallying on the badminton court, exchanging friendly banter over a billiards match, or cheering each other on at the bowling lanes, the spirit of fellowship remained at the heart of every activity.

Many participants shared how meaningful the gathering was for them. For Ma. Jamaica Elaine Hikawa, the event became a memorable opportunity to reconnect with fellow Mapúa Malayans. “I am very happy to have attended the Alumni Sportsfest. I think this was a first and I had a fun and memorable time reconnecting and playing with my fellow Mapúa Malayans. Looking forward to more events like this!”

Similarly, Jester Monana highlighted how the sportsfest helped alumni build new connections across different batches. “I am happy because I was able to meet the younger batches. Also, this activity helped in building connections since all of us are now working professionals,” he shared.

For Dayanara Dawn Sanchez, the experience went beyond recreation and became a meaningful moment of rediscovery and gratitude. “I’m so grateful I joined because it led me to rediscover my love for sports and even discover pickleball, which I now truly enjoy and which encourages me to live a healthier lifestyle in all aspects. Your team’s [Alumni Center] generosity and thoughtfulness toward us, even as alumni, are deeply appreciated. It was also inspiring to reconnect with fellow alumni, see how God is working in everyone’s lives, and feel how valued we are through this wonderful fellowship. Thank you so much to the whole team who organized this event. I’m excited to join again next time!”

The Alumni Sportsfest also highlighted the continued efforts of MCL and its alumni community to maintain meaningful engagement beyond graduation. Through initiatives led by the Alumni Center, graduates are encouraged to stay connected with their alma mater while building lasting relationships within the broader Mapúa MCL network.

More than just a day of sports, the event became a celebration of shared memories and enduring connections. As Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna marks two decades of growth and achievement, the gathering served as a reminder that the Mapúa MCL journey continues long after students leave the campus—carried forward by the strong and vibrant alumni community.
