BSBA Operations Management Student Places in COMS Top 10
The E.T. Yuchengco College of Business (ETYCB) celebrates the achievement of Princess Keziah A. Sandoval, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Major in Operations Management student of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, who passed the Certified Operations Management Specialist (COMS)® assessment and earned a place among the Top 10 passers of Batch 23.
Sandoval achieved a 92.08% rating, placing 10th among the recognized top performers. Her achievement reflects both her personal diligence and the strength of the Operations Management foundations developed through the program.
The COMS assessment, administered by the Center for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, Inc. (CPACE Philippines), evaluates fundamental knowledge across essential Operations Management areas, including operations strategy, project and facilities management, logistics, quality management, forecasting, enterprise resource planning, inventory control, Lean systems, and process improvement. It provides candidates with an external assessment of the competencies that support effective operational decision-making in contemporary organizations.
For Sandoval, pursuing the certification was an opportunity to test her knowledge and gain a professional edge in the Operations Management field. She shared that the encouragement and support of her professors, Sir Noel Eric Ang and Sir Juliezher Colaljo, motivated her to take on the challenge.
Her preparation was marked by focus and perseverance. Sandoval dedicated two weeks to reviewing the available materials, while drawing inspiration from the steady support of her family. She recalled the tension of waiting for the results, only to receive the email while jogging with her mother and sister. “I was shocked to see that I scored 101 and even more surprised that I made it to the Top 10,” she shared.
The achievement is significant because it demonstrates that Operations Management learning extends beyond classroom examinations. Professional assessments require students to synthesize concepts across interconnected areas—from process design and inventory planning to quality, logistics, and enterprise systems. They demand disciplined preparation, sound judgment, and the ability to apply foundational knowledge in a broader professional context.
Sandoval’s recognition also provides a meaningful example for future BSBA Operations Management students. It shows that external certification can serve as both a benchmark and a motivator: an opportunity to validate learning, build confidence, and begin developing a professional profile even before graduation.
