Marking a monumental milestone in their academic journey, the Senior High School (SHS) graduating class of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) officially celebrated their achievements during the institution’s 8th SHS Commencement Exercises. Held last July 6, 2026, at the Plenary Hall of the prestigious Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the solemn and grand ceremony celebrated the resilience, triumphs, and unwavering dedication of hundreds of Mapúa MCL–SHS graduates.
The venue buzzed with an overwhelming sense of pride and emotion as the graduates, dressed in their togas and caps, marched alongside their supportive parents, guardians, and the dedicated faculty and administrators of Mapúa MCL.
Throughout the ceremony, academic leaders commended the batch for navigating the evolving demands of modern education. As graduates from both the Academic and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood tracks were recognized, the themes of self-discipline, perseverance, and servant leadership resonated deeply. The institution has nurtured these young Mapúa Malayan students to prepare them for their next steps into higher education armed not only with technical proficiency and critical thinking but also with the core virtues that define Mapúa MCL.
During his keynote address, eimparted a meaningful message to the graduating students, reminding them that life-changing opportunities often arise during ordinary moments.
“Your biggest decisions in life won’t ever feel big, most of the time they will happen on an ordinary day—on a random Tuesday. You’re going about your life, when an opportunity appears out of nowhere, and a decision has to be made, and because it feels so ordinary you don’t realize that years later, you’ll look back and say, ‘that was the moment where everything changed.’”
He further reflected on his own journey, sharing that the defining moments of his life were not the milestones themselves but the simple decisions that surrounded them. He recounted that his life changed not because a scholarship examination existed, but because he chose to take it on an ordinary afternoon. Likewise, graduating was not the sole turning point in his career; rather, it was his willingness to continually say “yes” to opportunities that initially seemed ordinary. Through these reflections, Engr. Delos Reyes encouraged the graduates to embrace uncertainty, remain open to opportunities, and make courageous decisions even before they feel completely ready, emphasizing that these seemingly small choices often lead to life’s greatest transformations.
Echoing this message of perseverance, batch valedictorian Caelen Andrei V. Diesta, who graduated With Highest Honors from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Strand, delivered the Speech of Gratitude by reflecting on the unseen struggles behind every graduate’s success. Looking back on their graduation photo session months before commencement, he shared that while the camera captured smiles, it could never capture “the blood, sweat, and tears” that brought each student to the stage. His reflection serves as a reminder that every achievement was shaped by resilience, sacrifice, and countless ordinary decisions to keep moving forward despite challenges.
Diesta also underscored that the true measure of excellence extends far beyond medals and academic distinctions. “True excellence isn’t about holding trophies or earning gold medals,” he said. “Excellence is having the courage to show up and keep putting in the effort, even when everything inside you wants to quit.” He encouraged his fellow graduates to carry with them the competence and character cultivated during their years at Mapúa MCL, emphasizing that while grades may change and awards may eventually gather dust, the values and lessons they gained will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
As the 8th SHS Commencement Exercises concluded, the graduates sang the Malayan Hymn with pride and joy, officially marking the end of their high school chapters. Stepping out of the PICC Plenary Hall, the graduates are now poised to conquer new horizons and carry the legacy of excellence and virtue cultivated within the halls of Mapúa MCL.
Congratulations to our newest batch of Senior High School graduates and good luck on the next journey!
