Student Innovators Showcase AI-Powered Research at 2nd 2025 Research Colloquium

On September 11, 2025, student researchers from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) were given a platform to present and showcase their innovative AI-powered research during the 2nd 2025 Student Research Colloquium held at the Global Classroom with the theme “Developing A Sustainable Future: Through AI Powered Innovation, Collaboration, and Collective Solutions to Global Challenges.”   The top 3 research from the colloquium are as follows:    

1st Place: Optimizing CNN-LSTM Model for High-Resolution Rice Yield Prediction from Satellite Images by Robby P. Galang, Pearl Angelou O. Lim, Chanelle C. Melegrito, and Zoe Aleczandra A. Pineda with their adviser Prof. Jonalyn G. Ebron. 

2nd Place: Molecular Docking of Bioactive Components of Tawa-Tawa (Euphorbia hirta L.) Leaves as Inhibitor Against Galactofuranosyltransferase 2 (4FIX) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by Jasper Allen Juanillo Gonzales, Angela Amor Balagon, and Patrick Zen Aerol Tongson Zabala with their adviser Prof. Conrado P. Monterola. 

3rd Place: SEIR-Viz: A Web-Based Epidemic Tool for Prediction and Visualization of Infectious Disease Spread through SEIR Model Optimization by Jeremy Aidan L. Genato, Jon Peter P. Pomperada, and John Bernard G. Sahagun with their adviser Prof. Dennis A Martillano. 

This event contributes to strengthening Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
