Mapúa MCL Continues to Equip Students for the Future with Career Readiness Toolkit
In celebration of ASEAN Month, the Office for Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement (OSPGE) of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) launched another session of its Pathways to Employability initiative with the Career Readiness Toolkit seminar held at Café Enrique on September 12, 2025. The program was designed to equip students with essential skills and insights to prepare them for the demands of today’s competitive job market.
The seminar featured two distinguished speakers who shared practical strategies and expert knowledge with the participants. The session opened with Mr. Kim Chua, Managing Director of Jobs180, who delivered a presentation titled “Marketing ME: Marketing Yourself Effectively.” The discussion focused on résumé development, personal branding, and effective self-presentation during interviews, emphasizing the role of personal marketing in securing career opportunities.
This was followed by Prof. James Ronald O. Mesina, Vice President for External Relations and Global Linkages of Mapúa MCL, with a presentation titled “SURE: Student Upskilling, Readiness and Employability for SUCCESS.” Prof. Mesina emphasized the significance of continuous learning and adaptability, encouraging students to take proactive steps in developing both technical and soft skills. Prof. Mesina concluded the session by positioning employability as more than simply securing a job, emphasizing the importance of upskilling to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving professional landscape and to thrive and advance in one’s chosen field.
Beyond career preparation, the seminar also highlighted Mapúa MCL’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Specifically, the initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education by ensuring students gain access to relevant and transformative learning experiences; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting employability and readiness for meaningful careers; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration with industry partners like Jobs180 in delivering impactful programs.
The Career Readiness Toolkit reflects Mapúa MCL’s broader mission of preparing globally competitive graduates who are not only ready to enter the workforce but are also equipped to make meaningful contributions to society. By creating spaces where academic learning meets practical career preparation, the institution continues to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that its students are future-ready.
