Mapúa MCL to Conduct Random Drug Testing

In support of the government’s continuing efforts to prevent and deter illegal drug use among the youth, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) remains committed to implementing drug education, prevention programs, and activities that uphold our shared vision of a drug-free campus.
As part of this commitment, Mapúa MCL will conduct random drug testing in accordance with the following government policies and regulations:
- Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 40, s. 2017
- Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 18, s. 2018
- Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 6, s. 2003, as amended by DDB Regulation No. 3, s. 2009
These regulations mandate the conduct of drug testing among students in secondary and tertiary education. The testing, however, shall be random, and will be implemented with strict adherence to the following key principles:
- The program is preventive and rehabilitative in nature.
- Students’ personal privacy and dignity shall be respected at all times.
- Test results will be held in strict confidence and shall not be used as evidence in any criminal proceedings.
Accordingly, Mapúa MCL will conduct unannounced random drug testing throughout Academic Year 2025–2026. It will involve students from the Senior High School and College levels, as well as selected employees, in compliance with the aforementioned regulations.
A Random Drug Testing Selection Committee, headed by the Student Affairs Director and composed of representatives from the student body, parent community, teaching, and non-teaching personnel, shall be tasked with the random selection of individuals who will undergo testing during scheduled implementations.
