In alignment with the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL)’s mission of contributing to the solution of society’s problems by the expert application of knowledge, Mapúa MCL will begin offering a new health science program under the College of Health Sciences (CHS) starting in Academic Year 2024-2025.

To ensure the effective delivery of its new program offering within an outcomes-based framework, Mapúa MCL established a strategic partnership with Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Medical Center (USHMC). USHMC, a renowned tertiary level 2 hospital with a 100-bed capacity, offering a comprehensive range of medical services and boasts a team of experienced and qualified medical professionals. By partnering with USHMC, Mapúa MCL gains access to these resources and expertise, enabling it to provide students with a more comprehensive and practical health science education.

To formally establish a partnership dedicated to enhancing education, Mapúa MCL’s Senior Vice President, Atty. Maria Eloisa R. Gan, and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Engr. Maribel G. Songsong, joined USHMC’s President, Mr. Bueno B. Castillo, Chairman of the Board, Engr. Geronimo P. David, and Chief Nurse and Administrative Officer, Dr. Teresita A. Alcantara in signing a Memorandum of Agreement last November 13, 2023 at the Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Medical Center. This partnership aims to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health science education by aligning curricular outcomes with industry standards and providing students with hands-on clinical experience in a real-world healthcare setting.

Mapúa MCL’s commitment to innovation and its focus on preparing students for the demands of the globalized world align seamlessly with USHMC’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services and its unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community. Through this strategic partnership, Mapúa MCL and USHMC are committed to providing health science education that is both academically rigorous and clinically relevant. By aligning curricular outcomes with industry standards and providing students with hands-on clinical experience, the partnership will prepare graduates to become competent, compassionate, and well-prepared professionals who can make a positive impact on the lives of their patients.
