On June 19, 2018, Prof. James Ronald O. Mesina, Director of the Office for External Programs (OEP), visited the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, one of the biggest international private schools in the country and the second biggest IT university in the Asia-Pacific region, to revive the first round of exploratory discussions about the possible institutional linkage between MCL and APU.

With the combined efforts of Malayan Colleges Laguna’s (MCL) Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement (CSCE) and the B.S. Accountancy (ACT) and B.S. Accounting Technology (ACTEC) programs under the E.T. Yuchengco College of Business (ETYCB), the Mabato-Azufre Paper Crafts Association (MAPCA) has successfully registered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and applied for a grant last May 7, 2018. Composed of 30 members, MAPCA is a group of parents from Pangil, Laguna, one of MCL’s partner communities, that makes papier-mâché (paper craft) products or “pagtataka” for their source of income.

Showing up proudly in their blue togas, the 832 graduates of Malayan Colleges Laguna – Senior High School (MCL-SHS) received their diplomas during the 1st SHS Commencement Exercises on May 22, 2018 at the Plenary Hall, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. The graduates were given motivation by Mr. Ferdinand “Perry” A. Ferrer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EMS Group of Companies, as their keynote speaker.
