Numerical grades will be used for all academic courses except for Thesis, Research/Practicum and Capstone courses which are given "P", "C" or "5.00".

Non-academic and audit courses shall be given a grade of "P" or "5.00".

"P" and "C" grades shall not be included in the computation of the averages.

For regular lecture courses, the final rating shall be based on 60% Class Standing and 40% Final Examination. The student's class standing shall be composed of all scholarly activities conducted in the class such as but not limited to recitation, short quizzes, long tests, experiments, and special projects.

Under no circumstance that attendance shall considered part of the Class Standing of the student.

THE GRADE OF 5.00 (FAILURE)

The grade of "5.00" is given to:

  • students whose performance is poor
  • students who stop attending their classes at any time without officially dropping their courses through the Office of the College Registrar; and/or,
  • students who violated the policy on ATTENDANCE as defined above.

THE GRADE OF 8.00 (ABSENT)

The grade of "8.00" is given to a student who is officially enrolled in a course but failed to report in his/her class even once since the beginning of the term.

The grade of "8.00" shall be considered as a grade of "5.00" in the computation of the weighted average for one (1) term.

THE GRADE OF 7.00 (INCOMPLETE)

The grade of 7 shall be given to a student due to the following circumstances:

  • failure to take the final examination due to valid reason(s) provided that the result of the final examination is substantial in passing the course; or,
  • failure to submit reports or pertinent requirements equivalent to the final examinations due to valid reason(s) provided that the rating is substantial in passing the course.

The grade of "7.00" for a course outside the program of study of a student shall not affect his/her scholarship privileges.

The grade of "7.00" for a course within the program of study shall put the academic scholarship of the student on hold for the immediately succeeding term until the course has been successfully completed and the term weighted average recomputed.

The grade of "7.00" shall not be included in the computation of the term weighted average. No term weighted average shall be reflected in the grade report if all courses for a particular term are given the grade of "7.00".

The grade of "7.00" must be completed within the succeeding term.

If the student fails to complete the requirements within the prescribed period, the grade of "7.00" lapses and the student shall be required to repeat the course.

The student may enrol the course within the prescribed period in lieu of completing the requirements. The final grade shall be computed based on his/her overall class standing.

THE GRADE OF P (PASSED)

The grade of "P" shall be given only for the following courses:

  • Practicum courses
  • Research/Thesis courses
  • Research/Practicum courses
  • Audit courses
  • All non-academic courses such as Values Education, Physical Education and NSTP

The grade of "P" shall not be included in the computation of the general weighted average for a particular term.

THE GRADE OF C (CONTINUING)

The grade of "C" shall be given only for thesis or research practicum course which is not finished during the prescribed term.

The grade of "C" shall be replaced by the final grade "P" or "5.00" once the course is completed. The procedures for the completion of the grade of "C" and the grade of "7.00" are the same.

Until the grade of "C" is completed, the number of units of the said course shall be included in the maximum course load per term. If the course is not completed within one (1) academic year, the "C" shall automatically be completed and a grade of "5.00" shall be merited.

The grade of "C" shall not be included in the computation of the general weighted average for a particular term.
