MCL places as overall 2nd runner-up in UMak IT Skills Olympics 2018
A pool of Computer Engineering (CpE), Computer Science (CS), and Information Technology (IT) students from Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) placed in four different events and categories in the University of Makati’s (UMak) IT Skills Olympics 2018 last September 28. Out of 48 schools from different regions in the Philippines, MCL was hailed as the overall 2nd runner-up.
Placing 1st in the Android Application Development – Microfinance Category was the team of John Noel J. Corpuz, John M. Disonglo, Marco C. Iligan, and Algerica Raeven R. Ramos. They were coached by Prof. Dennis A. Martillano, who also trained IT Quiz Bee 3rd placers Allan Daraman Jr. and Michael James F. Gnilo.
CpE students Allerick I. Martin and Hero G. Codizal, meanwhile, won 3rd place in the Digital Electronics Category and PC Assembly/Disassembly Category, respectively. They were individually guided by Engr. Maribelle D. Pabiania and Engr. Kristine Joyce P. Ortiz.
This marks the second year in a row that MCL obtained an overall title in the UMak IT Skills Olympics.
