Electronics Engineering (ECE) representatives from Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) won 2nd runner-up in the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP)-Laguna Chapter’s 5th Bit the BEES (Best Electronics Engineering Student) Interscholastic Quiz Show last September 30, 2018. A total of 12 Laguna colleges and universities participated in the event.
Composed of fourth- and fifth-year students, the team of Angelika D. Alcantara, Jherome P. Arroyo, Wesly H. Crisostomo, Danna Mae S. Cuenco, Aira Claire M. Lagunias, and Patrick R. Sangalang was trained by Engr. Jess David A. Doria, an MCL alumnus, who considered being a coach more of a passion rather than a profession.
“They were able to think calmly and rationally during the quiz proper, and that is what separates the winners from the unfortunates. Bagging one of the top spots was also the product of our students’ effort in going the extra mile, juggling various school requirements while studying for the quiz show,” Engr. Doria said.
Wesly added that teamwork had also been their secret to winning the competition. “Nagtiwala kami sa isa’t-isa. Nagtulungan at nag-ambagan kami ng mga kaalaman namin para, as a team, mas lumakas kami.”
