Through its Office for External Programs (OEP), Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Lazada on May 2, 2018.

Owned by Alibaba Group, Lazada is the pioneer of the e-commerce ecosystem in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, offering the widest range of products in categories ranging from consumer electronics to household goods, toys, fashion, sports equipment, and groceries.

“This partnership that we have with industries like Lazada will help MCL attain its program educational objectives and student outcomes by making sure that its instructional program is relevant to industry needs and expectations,” said OEP Director Prof. James Ronald O. Mesina.

Both parties can get mutual benefits from this industry-academe linkage in terms of skills development, global mindset, and expansion of business chances.

This will also provide practicum and apprenticeship opportunities to MCL students as part of their curriculum.

“We are very happy that prominent industries open their doors to our students with a parallel commitment to impart on them the knowledge, skills, and attitude that the workforce needs,” he added.

Present during the MOA signing event were Lazada’s Human Resources (HR) Manager Mr. Jason Jocson and HR Analyst Ms. Maritoniflor Reyes, MCL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Dennis H. Tablante, MCL Vice President for Academic Affairs Engr. Maribel G. Songsong, and Prof. James Ronald O. Mesina.
