Among the Career 101: Personality At Work workshops organized by the Center for Guidance and Counseling covered the topic of handling job interviews for Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) students.

As part of equipping MCL students to be globally competitive individuals in the future, the Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC) set up a two-day career event titled Career 101: Personality at Work for graduating students last March 15 and April 4, 2018.

The event was comprised of different talks to prepare future professionals as they enter the real world.

On the first leg of Career 101, the Mapua Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) students got to know the essentials in job hunting for future engineers through Mundo Design + Build’s HR Manager Ms. Ella Bella Baral.

The second part of the event consisted of workshops which were simultaneously held at different parts of the campus.

Workplace survival tips for fresh graduates were shared to Tourism (TM) and Entrepreneurship (ENT) by Albert B. Banding Jr., RPm, RPsy, and to Accountancy (ACT), Accounting Technology (ACTEC), Culinary Arts (CA), and Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) by Ralph Jayson C. Pallon, MP, RPm, RPsy.

Senior Manager of IT-RMG Tech Mahindra Business Process Services Anabelle Marie C. Ubaldo shared how students from the College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS) can impress their prospective employers.

To demonstrate the importance of interviews in applying for a job, workshops on how to handle job interviews were headed by the Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training, Inc. (PHILCAMSAT) Training Director Capt. Roy Akker, PHILCAMSAT Education Manager Ms. Maria Ysabelle Reyes, and Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) Dean Dr. Edgardo P. Geguiento for CMET students; and by MCL’s HR Manager Ms. Mariecel R. Salivio for Broadcasting (BAB) and Digital Arts and Design (DAD).

Lastly, to discuss workplace etiquette with Multimedia Arts (MMA) and Environmental Science (ENVS) students was Bayer Philippines’ HR Expert Associate Ms. Princess Anne Lao.

“Helping our students in their academic progress is only half of the battle. Preparing them professionally to fit into the labor market and eventually become productive and contributing assets in the community is the next big step,” CGC Head Mabeth B. Francia stated.
