Asian Hospital and Medical Center recognizes MCL for blood donation drives

Students from Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) take part in Asian Hospital and Medical Center's (AHMC) Mobile Blood Donation Drive, which is held annually during the Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training's (CMET) college week.

In celebration of National Blood Donor’s Month last July, Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) received a plaque of appreciation from Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) for its generous support and commitment to AHMC’s life-saving program “Mobile Blood Donation.”

Spearheaded by the Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET), MCL has been conducting blood donation drives for three (3) years now as part of CMET’s college week.

The annual effort started in 2012 as an inaugural project of the Mapua-PTC CMET Alumni Association through the initiative of 2/O Dean Anthony Canson Jr., who served as a CMET student council president in college and then as a faculty member after graduating. “Being in the maritime sector, we believe that blood is like water that needs to flow in order to sustain life. We have partnered with Asian Hospital Bloodbank because we share the same paradigm and safe blood transfusion is our paramount concern,” he shared.

“We are motivated to continually do this because in this way we can help save lives,” CMET Dean Dr. Edgardo P. Geguiento stated. He added that this activity also serves as a wake-up call for the students’ social commitment.
