MARINA-CHED and EMSA assess Mapua-PTC CMET
Malayan Colleges Laguna’s Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) went through two audit visits last month to evaluate the institution’s continued commitment to quality maritime education.
For the first audit, which happened last March 7-9, the Maritime Industry Authority-Commission on Higher Education (MARINA-CHED) Monitoring Team visited CMET to check its programs, BS Marine Engineering (MarE) and BS Marine Transportation (MT), and their compliance to significant MARINA Circular Orders, CHED Memorandum Orders, and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) requirements.... HRM and TM students win gold and bronze in 11th COHREP IV
For the third year in a row, another group of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) and Tourism Management (TM) students representing Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) won 2 major awards in the recently concluded Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) National Skills Competition held at Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna on March 10, 2017.
In its 11th season, the competition, with the theme “Leveling Up: Hospitality and Tourism Education,” saw 18 schools from Luzon provinces vie with each other while showcasing their knowledge and skills.... (full story)
MCL welcomes PAMI delegates for annual convention and election of officers
In its 42nd year, the annual Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI) Annual Convention and Election of Officers, with the theme “PAMI Forward to International Standards,” was held at Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) on February 10-11, 2017.
The welcome and opening remarks were given by MCL Executive Vice President Engr. Dodjie Maestrecampo and PAMI President Engr. Felix Oca, respectively.
Secretary Arthur P. Tugade of the Department of Transportation served as the guest of honor and keynote speaker of the event, expressing his devotion to the maritime industry especially to the maritime education and training (MET) sector.... (full story)
